As the temperature dropped with the coming of night, the mist created by Snoqualmie Falls drastically changed its movements. It began swirling up the left cliff face, roiling up out of the blackness, enveloping the Salish Lodge in a fog that I at first mistook for smoke. I was certain that I was about to hear the whine of sirens as the fire trucks came blazing to the rescue. I was only too happy to realize my mistake and laugh at my own foolishness.
